After graduating to PA I went to Juilliard for two years, receiving incredible acting training but more importantly the wisdom to realize that I could never live an actor's life. So I went to Bennington College and majored in creative writing, graduating in 1983. After a couple of years back in NY working in publishing, I got into the Iowa Writers Workshop and moved to Iowa City. There I started working as a journalist, and ended up staying for two years after I graduated from the Workshop. Soon after moving back to the NY area, working on my second novel and as a ghostwriter, I met and fell in love with a German guy; After a year and a half of "commuting" between Fort Lee and Berlin (this was right after the fall of the Wall), I moved to Germany with nothing more than two cats, my guitar and a big suitcase.

Fortunately (although it didn't feel that way at the time), the relationship fell apart - but not before I had found my way into the music scene in Berlin, which had broken wide open with Unification. I had always written songs and performed them, but had never wanted to do it professionally until I
met some great East German musicians and formed a band. We toured Germany, the US and England before going our separate ways.

Meanwhile, I met my husband Markus at a 4-day meditation workshop in the Bavarian Woods (as in "Tales from the...") in 1998. We married the following year and now live in a little village in the Alpine hills about halfway between Munich and Salzburg. Markus is a web designer and programmer, and we've specialized in making bilingual English/German websites. He programmed my  website, www.BonnieJGordon.com, so drop by for a visit if you'd like to hear some of my music!

Now (January 2003) I've just completed my first album in the US, working with a Grammy-nominated producer and the crème de la crème of LA studio musicians. No label yet, but I'm very excited! I'd love to hear from old PA friends still in the shadows...

Hugs,
Bonnie

After graduating from SUNY at Stony Brook I worked in bio-medical research for four years after which I returned to school to study diagnostic medical ultrasound. Since then I have been employed in a major New York tertiary care hospital in this field.

About eleven years ago I picked up the violin again concentrating on jazz and, more recently, on Latin music. I have had my own gigs in the past but recently I have concentrated on public jam sessions and guest appearances on other people's gigs. Recently I sat in with Cuba's Orquesta Aragon during their recent New York appearance at Birdland.

Hello to all...

Hello to all...
A little bit about my life since PA.... Moved out to Los Angeles... I did some acting for a while, some TV, some film... There was something missing for me. I decided to go back to college. I am now a fourth grade teacher in California.

After PA, I earned a BA in English at SUNY Albany. In the late 1980's, I moved to Massachusetts. Around 1990, I started studying singing in Boston. After singing in the chorus of Bellini's 'Norma' and Donizetti's 'Roberto Devereux', I made my solo operatic debut in 1999 in the role of Ruiz, in Verdi's 'Il Trovatore' with Boston Bel Canto Opera (BBCO). Later that year, I sang Kaspar in a BBCO production of Menotti's 'Amahl and The Night Visitors'. During the 2003-2004 season, I sang Camille in Lehar’s "The Merry Widow" (Chaminade Opera Group, Attleboro MA). In 2005, I sang the role of Eisenstein in Strauss II’s “Die Fledermaus,” and produced the run for Chaminade Opera Group.

In 2006, composer Larry Alan Smith set three of my poems in a song cycle called “I sing because,” which will premiere in June 2006 at an Opera in the Ozarks event, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. In the mid 1990's, I started writing poems after a delightful evening in Gloucester MA. A few years later, I headed the Poetry Workshop at Newton Free Library in Newton MA. I have been the featured poet twice at the Agapé Poetry Series in Boston, and have read publicly at Borders and at Barnes and Noble. During the summer of 2003, some of my poems were accepted for publication by The Bastard Quarterly, Meridian Anthology of Contemporary Poetry, Nomad's Choir, Parnassus Literary Journal, and Poetry Motel.

Althea and I live at the top of a high hill in Boston Metrowest, which has a view of the John Hancock and Prudential towers in Boston. This aerie is Althea's small-scale re-creation of her childhood vista outside of Denver.
